P378 David's Harp
Item# P378

Product Description

David must have spent many lonely hours on the Bethlehem hillsides practicing on his harp as he tended his fatherís sheep. His reputation as an expert harp player was so well known that even a servant of King Saul had heard of David. King Saul asked Jesse, Davidís father, if David could come and play for him. David eventually became a member of King Saulís staff, and his playing soothed the tormented spirit of the king. (I Samuel 16:18-23) When David became King of Israel, he wrote psalms to be played at the Temple and organized the Temple Orchestra. It is said that the sound of harps from the Temple could be heard all over Jerusalem. Praise the Lord with the harp; make music to Him on the ten stringed lyre. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. (Psalm 33:2-3) Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing. (Psalm 98:4-5)
